FAQ

Whether you’re new to medical aesthetics or considering your next treatment, it’s natural to have questions. We’ve gathered some of the most common ones below to help you feel informed and confident in your experience.

Yes, we require a consultation for all advanced skin treatments, as well as for those seeking a personalized AlumierMD skincare routine. During this appointment, your provider will conduct a comprehensive skin assessment and develop a customized treatment plan tailored to your individual needs and goals. (Please note – Dr.Krushel does NOT require a consultation prior to a Botox treatment and you can book your time online)

Your consultation includes a detailed discussion of your skincare concerns, medical history, and lifestyle factors that may influence your skin health. Your provider will then evaluate your skin and recommend the most appropriate treatments, which may include Venus Versa Pro technology, AlumierMD chemical peels, and medical-grade skincare.

Based on this assessment, a personalized treatment plan will be created to ensure safe, effective, and long-lasting results. A patch test may also be performed during the consultation if you choose to proceed with treatment.

We require minimum 48 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. Time booked is reserved specifically for you, and late cancellations or no-shows create gaps in our clinicians’ schedules that could have been offered to other clients.

A credit card is required to save on file for all bookings. A minimum $100 booking fee will be charged if an appointment is cancelled within 48 hours, and the full fee will apply in the event of a no-show. This policy ensures fairness and consistency for all clients while respecting the time and expertise of our team.

Safety is our top priority. Whether a treatment is suitable depends on your individual skin and medical history. It’s important to complete your intake form thoroughly, including any medical conditions, as well as medications or supplements you are taking, as many can be photosensitizing or contraindicated and may need to be discontinued for a period before receiving advanced treatments.

If we identify a condition or factor that prevents a treatment from being performed, we will discuss it with you at the time of booking. In these cases, we can recommend alternate treatments or create a personalized at-home skincare regimen using AlumierMD products to begin addressing your skin concerns safely. This ensures you can start caring for your skin while prioritizing your health and safety.

For the safety of both you and your baby, we cannot perform advanced skincare treatments during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. There is currently insufficient clinical research to ensure the safety of undergoing advanced treatments in these circumstances.

Certain treatments may also be contraindicated for clients undergoing IVF. During your consultation, our team will review your health status and help you explore safe options that support your skin while prioritizing your overall well-being.

Preparation depends on the treatment you are receiving, but following pre-treatment instructions is essential for safety and optimal results. In general, this may include (but not limited to):

  • Discontinuing active skincare products such as acids, retinoids or exfoliating treatments for 5–7 days prior
  • Avoiding direct sun exposure for at least two weeks before your appointment
  • Avoiding self-tanning products
Avoiding hair removal (waxing, threading, or other forms) 1-2 weeks prior to your appointment
  • Discontinuing NSAIDs (aspirin, ibuprofen, Aleve) for a period before treatment, if recommended for resurfacing treatments.

Following these instructions helps ensure your treatment is safe, effective, and that you won’t need to be turned away at the time of your appointment. Specific pre-treatment guidance will always be reviewed with you during your consultation or at the time of booking, and we are always happy to answer any questions in the days leading up to your appointment.

For most advanced aesthetic treatments — including light-based procedures, chemical peels, and resurfacing therapies — your skin’s current condition directly affects both safety and results. Sun exposure or self-tanning products increase the amount of melanin in the skin or create a superficial tint that can interfere with treatment absorption.

Higher levels of pigmentation can be problematic because the treatment energy (whether light or chemical) is designed to target specific structures in the skin, such as hair follicles, blood vessels, or pigment. When the skin has increased melanin, the energy can be absorbed by surrounding skin instead of the intended target, which can lead to burns, blistering, hyperpigmentation, or uneven results. Essentially, the treatment becomes less precise and your skin is more vulnerable to side effects. Avoiding sun and self-tanning products in the weeks before your appointment ensures that your clinician can safely and effectively target the intended areas, giving you optimal results while minimizing risk.

For most advanced skin treatments, downtime is minimal to none, and you can typically go about your day as usual — just be sure to wear SPF to protect your skin. Common side effects may include erythema (redness), edema (swelling), or temporary tightness or itchiness, which usually resolve within a few hours to a couple of days.

For more intensive treatments, such as Nanofractional RF resurfacing, we use a compounded numbing cream to maximize comfort. Downtime for this treatment can be longer and depends on the aggressiveness of the procedure. Your clinician will provide guidance on what to expect and how to care for your skin to ensure the best results.

Most advanced skin treatments are designed as a series of sessions for optimal results. This is because the skin’s natural repair and regeneration processes take time. Treatments stimulate collagen production, increase cell turnover, and encourage tissue remodeling, which improves texture, tone, and firmness over time.

Visible improvements can appear anywhere from a few weeks to several months as your skin rebuilds itself and responds to the treatment. The number and timing of sessions will depend on your specific skin concerns, goals, and the type of treatment. During your consultation, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan to maximize results safely and effectively, and will discuss realistic expectations and treatment spacing.

Proper aftercare is essential to maximize results and ensure your skin heals safely. While specific instructions depend on the treatment you receive, general guidelines often include:

  • Avoiding direct sun exposure and wearing SPF daily to protect your skin
  • Keeping your skin hydrated with gentle, soothing products
  • Avoiding harsh or active skincare ingredients for a 5-7 days (such as retinoids, acids, or exfoliants)
  • Avoiding heat such as hot tubs, saunas, or prolonged exposure to cooking over a hot stove
  • Avoiding strenuous exercise that increases blood flow or heat to the treated area

Following these guidelines helps minimize side effects like redness, swelling, or irritation and ensures your skin responds optimally to treatment. During your appointment, your clinician will provide a personalized aftercare plan tailored to your treatment and skin type, so you know exactly how to care for your skin in the days and weeks following your session.

Hands down, our number one recommendation is SPF…SPF…SPF.  Daily sun protection is the single most important step in slowing down photoaging, which is the premature aging of skin caused by sun exposure. UV light damages collagen, elastin, and skin cells, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, and loss of firmness over time.

While we can’t completely stop aging, daily SPF, sun-safe habits, and antioxidant-rich skincare can protect your skin from further damage, maintain skin health, and help preserve the results of your treatments. In essence, we CAN prevent much of the sun-related damage that makes skin look older than it is, with the use of SPF.

At 901 Clinical Aesthetics, we offer a curated selection of AlumierMD SPF products that are clean, lightweight, and formulated to protect your skin while supporting your daily routine. Protecting your skin is the best way to ensure your treatment results last and your skin stays healthy and radiant.

For the majority of our advanced treatments, the minimum age is 18 years. However, select treatments are available to clients aged 16–17 with written parental consent, and a parent or guardian must be present at the time of the consultation.

We do not perform treatments on clients under 16, but we can create a personalized skincare routine using AlumierMD products to safely and effectively address their concerns. This allows younger clients to begin caring for their skin early with professional guidance.
