Alumier Chemical Peels are advanced, professional exfoliation treatments designed to resurface and renew the skin with minimal downtime. Using a customized blend of AHAs and/or BHAs, these peels gently remove dead skin cells, clear congestion, and stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process. With consistent treatments, chemical peels can improve skin texture and tone, refine pores, soften fine lines, reduce pigmentation, and restore clarity and radiance—leaving the skin smoother, brighter, and healthier-looking.
This gentle, hydrating peel features a 30% lactic acid formula designed to loosen and lift dead skin cells while supporting the skin barrier. Getting an Alumier chemical peel is a simple and effective way to refresh your skin while addressing concerns like uneven tone, texture, and dullness. Here’s what you can expect from your experience:
Treatment Time: Sessions generally take around 30 minutes, though the timing is based on your skin’s response and the type of peel selected.
Sensation: During your Alumier chemical peel, you may notice a warm, tingling, or mild stinging sensation as the acids work to gently renew your skin. This sensation is typically comfortable and well-tolerated. Your provider will carefully monitor your skin and comfort level throughout the treatment, ensuring that each step is safe and effective until the treatment endpoints are reached.
Number of Treatments: An initial series of 3 treatments is recommended for optimal results, dependent on the skin concerns we are addressing. Your provider will recommend the right schedule during your consultation. Individual and package pricing is available for all of our peel treatments.
Downtime: An AlumierMD peel is a professional-grade treatment designed to refresh your skin with minimal disruption to your daily life. Here is what you can expect:
- The First 48 Hours: Your skin may feel slightly warm, sensitive or tight, similar to a mild sunburn. You’ll likely leave with a healthy, “sun-kissed” glow.
- Days 3–5: You may notice some light flaking or “pilling,” usually starting around the mouth and nose. A quick note: Don’t worry if you don’t see visible peeling, the ingredients are still working deeply at a cellular level, even if the shedding isn’t obvious to the eye.
- Day 7 and Beyond: Any temporary dryness will subside, revealing a smoother, brighter, and more even-toned complexion.
Consultation Required: A short consultation is needed before your first peel to review your skin, discuss your goals, and choose the most suitable peel for you.
Pre-Treatment
To get the best results and minimize sensitivity, we require you to start preparing your skin 7 days before your appointment:
- Pause the “Actives” and Exfoliants: Retinols, Glycolic Acid (AHA), Salicylic Acid (BHA), Vitamin C serums and physical or chemical exfoliants must be discontinued 5-7 days prior to your peel. This allows your skin’s natural barrier to be at its strongest.
- Avoid Hair Removal: Refrain from waxing, electrolysis, or using hair removal creams on the treatment area.
- Sun Awareness: Avoid direct, intentional sun exposure or tanning beds. We cannot treat skin that is sunburned or recently tanned. If you do arrive at your appointment with sunburned or recently tanned skin, we will have to reschedule your appointment and a booking fee will apply.
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water and keep your skin well-moisturized in the days leading up to your peel.
Note: If you are prone to cold sores, please let us know! We may recommend an antiviral medication prior to your treatment to prevent a breakout, to which our medical director can assist with.
Post-Treatment
An AlumierMD peel is a professional-grade treatment that requires specific care to ensure your results are both safe and effective. Following these steps will protect your new, glowing skin:
- The 12-Hour Rule (Glow Peels): If you received an Alumier Glow Peel, your skin continues to process the treatment after you leave. Do not apply water to your skin or wash your face for at least 12 hours to allow the active ingredients to work effectively and to prevent complications post-treatment.
- SPF Protection: Your “new” skin is highly sensitive to the sun. Application of a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ is mandatory every morning and throughout the day to protect your investment and prevent damage.
- Be Gentle with Flaking: If you experience flaking or “pilling” on days 3–5, please resist the urge to pick, scrub, or pull at the skin. Let it shed naturally to avoid irritation or uneven pigment.
- Pause the “Actives”: Give your skin a break from strong products. Discontinue use of Retinols, Vitamin C, and exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA) for 5–7 days post-treatment.
- Stay Cool: For the first 48 hours, avoid activities that generate excessive internal heat, such as strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, or very hot showers, as these can lead to unnecessary redness or swelling.
- Simplify Your Routine: Use only the gentle cleanser and recovery creams until your skin has fully settled.
To ensure your skin stays healthy and achieves the best results, AlumierMD peels are not recommended if any of the following apply:
- Pregnancy & Nursing: We are unable to perform treatment until you have finished breastfeeding.
- Allergies: Please inform us if you have an allergy to Aspirin (Salicylic Acid) or Milk (Lactic Acid).
- Infections: Active cold sores, warts, or open wounds in the treatment area.
- Recent Illness: A compromised immune system or active skin infections.
- Accutane: You must be off Isotretinoin for at least 6–12 months.
- Retinoids: Please discontinue Retin-A or high-strength Vitamin A for 7-14 days prior.
- Recent Procedures: Wait 14 days after Botox or Fillers, and 6 months after facial surgery.
- Sun Exposure: We cannot treat skin that is currently sunburned or has had significant sun exposure in the last 14 days.
- Chronic Conditions: Active eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea flares in the treatment area.
- Scarring: A history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring.
